About meI am a lifelong dancer. I began dancing at age 7, went pro at age 19 and opened my own studio in 2008. I was a young mother and am now mom to four; ages 12, 12, 14 an 18. Two are mine, two are my husband's, all are trouble! I have held four state titles, including Miss Colorado Galaxy, Mrs. Colorado International and Mrs. Michigan America, and competed in 5 national and international pageants, including first runner-up at Ms. America. My life and career have been about mentoring others and in 2016 I started a free leadership program that utilized dance to teach character skills and community leadership.

Write a short paragraph describing who you are:I am an animal lover and advocate. I believe empathy will change the world by teaching us to seek to understand one another and care about the experiences of others. I not-so-secretly believe I am Wonder Woman and I am third generation show folk who was born with a microphone in hand.
What makes you a powerwoman?I am a powerwoman because I believe in the beauty of my own dreams. I am smart and ambitious, but also kind and compassionate. I have had academic success as well as professional and commercial success, despite becoming a mother at the age of 17. I have dance professionally for almost two decades, built my own company, written a children's book and mentored hundreds of girls and women. My legacy as a powerwoman is that I am the builder of powerful women.
What is your career?I am a dancer by trade, but a mentor by choice. I continue to work as a dancer and fitness coach, but am also moving into pageant directorship so I may expand my mentoring program.
What is your education?GED Valedictorian; Red Rocks Community College (graduated on time, with the highest test score the college had ever recorded- with a baby on my hip)

List your top professional or personal accomplishments to date?2000-2004 Denver Nuggets Dancer (the hardest team to make, the best dancers in the state- years later and I am still proud of this accomplishment)
2008-2015 Studio 21 Dance; owner and lead instructor (started as an after school program, moved into a 675 sqft studio with six students, expanded to a 2600 sqft, five room, 180 students, 22 employees. Won Best Studio five years in a row)
21 months sober this Thursday (9/28/2017). Choosing an alcohol-free life was not easy, and many still struggle. I now mentor other women struggling with addiction and depression. While discussing it publicly is still challenging, there is no shame in recovery. I am proud of my sobriety.
2017 publishing my first children't story about bullying. Told by a "bully" who adopts a pit bull who has also been labeled. Together they learn to make better choices. My goal is to change the language of the anti-bullying movement to focus on behaviors, rather than pigeon-holing children with labels.

What are your hobbies?Dance, fitness, movies (I love them all), cosplay (dressing in costume for conventions or movie premiers), service and volunteer work, anything with my dogs, reading and listening to audio books, blogging and mentoring other competitors. Oh- and "bio-hacking", a fancy new term that means figuring out how to get your body to work better (fitness/nutrition/supplementation/light exposure/etc).
What is your favorite thing to do?Go to a movie after a really busy day and eat junk food. Not gonna lie, the junk food is crucial.
Where is your favorite place to be?My favorite place is my kitchen. As all Italians do, my family has always congregated in the kitchen. It's where we play, talk, dance and connect. It's our family's hub.
Do you consider yourself a party person or a home person, why?A party person, who happens to party primarily at home.
I love to socialize and be active, but I am a homebody at heart. My life is best when balanced between social and secluded and goes out of whack when there's not enough of either.
But I do throw the best parties as I never met a streamer I didn't like.
Why did you enter the competition?This competition intrigues me because it embodies everything for which I have been working towards my entire career. It's the idea that beauty is not two-dimensional and that things like humility, empathy, intelligence and ambition are more important than the package. Genetics and personal care can only take a nice photo. To be a beautiful woman, we must strive to create beauty around us through service, empowering others and working as force for good. This competition has the potential to change we consider to be the ideal beauty. It is bigger than me, but it is everything that I am and that I hope to be.
Who is your hero and why?I am fortunate to be living in a time where we are surrounded by powerful women, and I have many heroes. However, I am blown away on a daily basis by my mother. She was a single mother and yet managed to put herself through school and get not only a Master's, but also a Doctoral Degree. She was the first female director in Campus for Christ back in the day where they assumed she was a man because her name is Lesley. She's under 5' tall, but truly larger than life. Most importantly, she gives of herself more than anyone I know. She is a psychotherapist and helps people. She even works for free when clients are struggling. She is the kind of woman I hope to be, hope to raise and hope to create through my work.
What color relates to your personality and why?I am all shades of grey. It can be soft and comforting, or strong and intimidating. It goes with everything and clashes with nothing. Gentle like a dove or powerful like a storm.
What are you freakishly addicted to?Dogs. I want them all. I want to pet them all. I want to be near one at all times. Dogs.
What is your greatest strength?My greatest strength is my resilience. I have been knocked down and thought I could never recover many times in my life, but I always get back up and come back stronger than ever. Life changes with every breath and we never know what is just around the corner. Keep going.
Most scary animal or insect?Crickets. They freak me out. We used to have tree frogs and I had to go buy bags of crickets to feed them. The drive home I would hear them (ugh) jumping around in the bag (yuck). I can't even type this without shuddering.
